Women's Lacrosse Joins Oliver's Team; Host 5K for MLD Saturday
FAIRFIELD, CONN. (October 18, 2013)--This Saturday, the Sacred Heart women's lacrosse team and Oliver's Team is hosting a walk to fight MLD 5K Run/Walk on the Sacred Heart University campus. Check in starts at 8:00a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds will go directly towards the Cipareli Family.
Oliver Ciparelli is a three year-old son of two former Sacred Heart student-athletes who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, MLD for short. Translated from doctor talk MLD means: meta - change, chromatic - color, leuko - white matter, dystrophy - degeneration. MLD's name comes from degeneration in the white matter of the brain and Central Nervous System (CNS).
To sign up for the 5K, or to donate to the cause, contact SHU women's lacrosse assistant coach Amanda Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org. Entry fee is $20 for non-Sacred Heart students, and $5 for students.
