Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse player Caitlin Delaney (Cherry Hill, N.J.) was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The midfielder wins the award for the second time in four weeks.
Delaney, a graduate of Cherry Hill East High School, finished the two-game weekend with four goals, an assist, 10 draw controls, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. The rookie finished the year leading the team in ground balls, 44, draw controls, 43, and caused turnovers, 26, while ranking second on the squad with 29 points and 23 goals.
In the season finale at Bryant on Sunday Delaney touched net a team-best four goals, to go along with six draw controls and four ground balls. She had four ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers, as well as an assist, in Friday's game at Central Connecticut State University.
