UMass Lowell Runs Past SHU

LOWELL, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team (0-7) was bested by host UMass Lowell (2-4), 18-9, Saturday afternoon at Wicked Blue Field.

How it happened…

Both squads were competitive through the first half of play with the River Hawks edging SHU. 5-4, at the intermission.

Amid the final 30 minutes, UMass Lowell triggered a pair of 5-0 runs-one for almost six minutes and the second, covering a near 10 minutes-to pocket the game's victory.

The numbers…

Hanna Wise led the Pioneers in scoring netting a hat trick and was one shy of tying the game-best tally. Wise also contributed an assist in her time out on the turf.

Alyssa Pearce and Sydney Ericson each added a pair of tallies while Ericson also added a pair of helpers matching the Pioneers' high in points.  

Paige Hammick also picked up five balls off the turf, caused a pair of turnovers and made seven saves. Hammick credited the setback in net.

Elizabeth Small and Dominique Anselmin won four draw controls each.
