FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team (0-9) was handled from start to finish by Brown (7-4), 15-4, Saturday afternoon on Campus Field.
How it happened…
Alyssa Pearce put the Pioneers on the board for the first and second time in the first half's 24th and 19th minute, respectively, to help fill in SHU's early deficit, 4-2.
Brown answered tacking on three more goals before a goal registered by Cassie Cesario settled the halftime line, 7-3.
Emma DeGennaro cushioned Brown's advantage providing back-to-back goals amid a 3-0 run by the foe to go up 10-3. Hanna Wise capitalized on a free position shot at 25:10 but also marked the last goal scored for SHU. Brown benefitted four more scorers, five additional scoring sequences, to punctuate the final score.
Pearce's two goals led SHU's offensive performance. Wise and Cesario rounded out the Pioneers' scoring efforts. Sydney Ericson was the lone Pioneer to provide an assist.
Averi Farhat grabbed a team-high three balls off the turf.
The Pioneers wrap up their three-game home-stand and open conference play, Friday, April 6 against LIU Brooklyn at 3:00 p.m.
