Women’s Lacrosse Names Four Captains for the 2018-19 Season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart women's lacrosse head coach Laura Korutz has announced that seniors Hannah Wise, Olivia Mittleman, Carrie Speicher, and junior Lizzie Small will serve as captains for 2018-19 season.

"As a coaching staff, we could not ask for four better young ladies that embody our team's core values to be captains and leaders for this upcoming season," Korutz said. "Each one of these captains possess great individual leadership qualities, but as a unit are strong in their work to take this team to the next level."

Wise is a senior from Saratoga Springs, New York. Starting in all 16 games last season, Wise finished with a team-high 36 goals and was third with 36 points. She also led the squad with 16 free position goals and 64 shots on goal. She tallied seven hat tricks on the year, including a pair of four-goal performances against LIU Brooklyn on April 6 and Mount St. Mary's on April 20.

Speicher, a senior attacker from Chester, N.J. made four starts and 12 appearances last season, accumulating five goals and two assists. She netted her first career goal at Iona on Feb. 21, and added a pair of goals against Fresno State on Mar. 10.

Mittleman, a senior from Mullica Hill, N.J. made 13 appearances and seven starts as a defender last season. She collected seven ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Coming off a breakout sophomore campaign, Small led the team 28 caused turnovers, ranked second with 35 draw controls and was third with 26 ground balls. The defender from Rumson, N.J. appeared and started in 15 games last season. She caused a season-best five turnovers against Bryant on Apr. 13, and added five draw controls in back-to-back games against Mount St. Mary's (Apr. 20) and Wagner (Apr. 22). She was one of three Pioneers named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team.
