Sacred Heart senior Chelsea Wagner (Aurora, CO) was named to this week's WomensLacrosse.com Division I Honor Roll after leading the Pioneers to their third-straight Northeast Conference title over the weekend. Wagner earned the tournament's MVP award after wins over Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac delivered the Pioneers the championship.
Wagner posted 14 saves in the NEC Quarterfinal win over the Mount, allowing just five goals. She was key in fueling a second half run in Sunday's title game with five of her eight saves against the Bobcats helping SHU close the game with a 7-1 run. Wagner is the foundation to a Sacred Heart defense that allowed a NEC low 8.59 goals per game this season.
The senior is among the top goalkeepers in the nation ranking in the top-10 in every statistical category. She is tops in the NCAA in save percentage stopping 59.2%. She is seventh in the NCAA in goals against average (7.71) and saves (167) and eighth in saves per game (10.0).
Wagner leads the Pioneers into the NCAA Play-In game on May 8th riding a school record 12 game winning streak as they await the winner of the Patriot League for a chance at a spot in the tournament.
