Fairfield, Conn.—Samantha Kee (Haskell, N.J.) of the Sacred Heart women's soccer team has been honored with a Northeast Conference 2011 Fall Scholar-Athlete Award.
Kee was a driving force this past season helping lead the Pioneers to a Division I record 10 win season and back to the NEC Tournament after a five-year absence. Starting all but three games, the senior led the team with six goals, three game-winners, and 12 points. She ranked sixth in the NEC in goals per game and was named the NEC Player of the Week the week of September 26 after scoring two goals against rival Quinnipiac.
In addition to being a star on the field, Kee maintains a 4.0 GPA in Biological Sciences. This season, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team.
Kee shares the women's soccer award with Wagner junior forward Julie Vigliotti.
