Fairfield, Conn.—A trio of Pioneers were named to the OHANA Hotels and Resorts No Ka Oi All-Tournament Team. Alyssa Brandofino (East Northport, N.Y.), Jackie DeLucia (Bethel, Conn.) and Jen Mulvey were the Sacred Heart Women's Soccer Team honorees after all three recorded a goal in the tournament.
In the 3-2 loss to Utah Valley, the Pioneers and the Wolverines traded possessions for the first 25 minutes before a goal was put on the board. In the 26th minute, Brandofino headed a corner kick into the goal to give Sacred Heart a brief lead. Then, with SHU down 3-1 and less than eight minutes left in the game, DeLucia intercepted a pass from Utah Valley goalkeeper Jessica Duffin and taking a shot that would be the final goal of the game.
Two days later in the loss to Hawaii, Sacred Heart only got two shots off in the first half against the host team, one of which being the first goal of the game. Just past the fifteen-minute mark, Mulvey intercepted a Hawaii pass. Shooting from 12 yards out, the senior found the back of the net for Sacred Heart's only goal of the game.
The women's soccer team come home to open Campus Field this Friday against Lafayette at 7:00 p.m.
