Fairfield, Conn.—The Sacred Heart Women's Soccer Team drops second consecutive game to an Ivy League opponent Friday night when they were shut out 2-0 by Columbia. Senior Goalkeeper Sydney Judkins (South Park, Penn.) recorded a scoreless second half between the post deflecting one Lion shot for a save.
Columbia came on strong in the first half, outshooting the Pioneers 7-3 and recording two goals. In the thirteenth minute, Maya Marder headed a corner kick past SHU Goalkeeper Thalia Schwartz (Roslyn, N.Y.), who was charged with the loss, for the first goal of the game. Just six minutes later, Isabel King sailed a shot from inside the box in for the Lions' second goal.
The Pioneers went on an offensive streak coming out of the halftime break outshooting Columbia 5-1 in the second half, four shots were on goal. Despite the effort, SHU and Columbia were both held scoreless in the second half and the Lions relied on the first-half scoring for the 2-0 win.
