Women's Soccer Dropped by LIU Brooklyn 1-0

Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by LIU Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 3-3-1 in the Northeast Conference and 6-8-1 overall. The Pioneers were shutout for the seventh time this season.  

The first half was a back and forth affair with neither team able to find the back of the net. The Pioneers put together five shots on goal, while goalkeeper Sydney Judkins had three saves of her own. The stout defense for both teams allowed the game to enter halftime tied at zero.

The Blackbirds scored the lone goal of the game in the 69th minute providing LIU the only goal they would need. Senior Midfielder headed one past Judkins off a beautiful cross from sophomore midfielder Bridget O'Sullivan. LIU would hold off the Pioneers to preserve the shutout for goalkeeper Jessica Sexton.  Sexton stoned the Pioneers all game notching nine saves.

The Pioneers hope to rebound when they hit the pitch next on October 19th at Quinnipiac.
