Verrette Named NEC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Fairfield, CT (September 16, 2013) – Junior captain Kristin Verette (Saugus, MA) was named Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for her efforts in the Pioneers 5-1 win over the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Sunday afternoon. 

Verrette scored two goals within one minute and fifty eight seconds of each other in the second half of a 5-1 victory over the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Sunday afternoon. On her first goal, the junior captain was able to win a 50/50 ball at the top of the UMass box and fire one past the River Hawk goalkeeper to give SHU a 2-0 lead. One minute and fifty eight seconds later, Verrette struck again, this time depositing a beautifully touched Alexis Parlato through ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the game and third of the season.

Verrette and the SHU women's soccer team are back in next this coming Friday when they travel to New Haven to take on the Yale Bulldogs on Friday night.
