Women's Soccer Falls to Delaware, 5-1

NEW HAVEN, CT - The University of Delaware women's soccer team used a pair of goals from Stacie Dulkis, including the eventual game-winner in the 44th minute to lead the Blue Hens to a 5-1 win over Sacred Heart in the opening game of the Yale Invitational on a rainy Friday afternoon.
Amy Pickard opened the scoring for Delaware in the 13th minute with a goal from Jamie Flynn. Sacred Heart, 0-5, got even with a tally from sophomore Leigh Dogmanits from Ashley Testani in the 38th minute. Dulkis sent the Blue Hens, 3-1-1, into the half with a 2-1 lead with her first score just over a minute before the period expired.
Delaware outshot the Pioneers 9-6 in the first half.
Alli D'Amico gave Delaware a 3-1 lead in the 54th minute with an assist from Caitlin Germaine, and Dulkis made it 4-1 with her second less than two minutes later. Germaine closed the scoring, finding the back of the net in the 86th minute.
Breanna Stemler made four saves to earn the win in goal for Delaware, while Meghan Reichelt made three for the Pioneers.
SHU will be in action again on Sunday in the second game of the Invitational, facing Western Carolina.
