FAIRFIELD, CT - Sophomore Leigh Dogmanits (Walnutport, PA) scored the tying goal in the 79th minute, her second tally of the game, to help the Sacred Heart women's soccer team salvage a 2-2 overtime tie with visiting Wagner College Sunday afternoon.
Sacred Heart, 1-10-3 overall and 0-3-1, took a 1-0 lead less than a minute before halftime on the first goal by Dogmanits. It came on a header off a cross from Samantha Kee. Just :13 after the SHU goal, Jessica Balling tied it for the Seahawks with an assist from Catherin DelMedico on the only Wagner shot on goal of the half.
Wagner, 2-7-4, took a 2-1 lead just under three minutes into the second half on a Briana Vassallo goal. Dogmanits got the tying goal with an assist from Ashley Testani with 16:28 left to go.
Wagner outshot the Pioneers 4-2 in the two overtime periods but neither team could score.
SHU won the shot battle 17-8 in the contest. Sophomore goalie Meghan Reichelt made three saves for the Pioneers, while Sam Schueschner made five for the Seahawks.
