Pioneers Picked Seventh In NEC Preseason Poll

The two-time Northeast Conference Champion Sacred Heart Women's Softball Team has been predicted to finish seventh in the 2013 NEC Preseason Poll that came out Tuesday morning.

The 2012 Regular Season Softball Champion Robert Morris Colonials were on top of the poll garnering six out of 11 first-place votes. LIU Brooklyn was right behind them with five first place votes.

The Pioneers return All-NEC Second Team selections Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Jade Bowins (Frederick, MD) to lead the team back to the NEC Tournament after last year's absence. This year, Sacred Heart's roster features seven fresh faces and 13 returnees.

Sacred Heart finished the 2012 season 21-32 and 6-14 against NEC opponents to finish ninth in the standings.

Sacred Heart opens the season at the UNC Charlotte Tournament on February 22 against Robert Morris at 10:00 a.m.
