Pioneers Complete Tournament Sweep in Slugfest

Baltimore, Md. (March 17, 2013)—The Sacred Heart Softball team completed the sweep of the UMBC Tournament Sunday morning when they took down Morgan State 9-0 with a slugfest as the Pioneers connected for five homeruns. Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) each had two, while Nicki Surkes (Brightwaters, N.Y.) had the fifth.

Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) got her second win of the season against the Bears giving up just four hits over four innings while striking out two and walking only one. Taylor Lane (Lisbon, Conn.) came in in relief in the fifth to close out the game.

Sacred Heart hosts UConn on Tuesday at Pioneer Park in the home-opener at 2:30 p.m.
