FAIRFIELD, CONN. (April 10, 2014)—Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI as the Sacred Heart softball team shutout the Quinnipiac University Bobcats 4-0 Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Park. Anna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) got the win after holding the Bobcats to just one hit over four innings of work. The win starts the nine-game home stand right and improves the Pioneers' season record 10-14.
Sacred Heart got on the board in the bottom of the third thinks to a two-out rally. After the first two batters got out on fly balls, Andrea Sidor (North Vancouver, British Columbia) knocked a single to left field before Jade Bowins (Frederick, Md.) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) smacked back-to-back doubles for an RBI each.
The Pioneers scored a run in both the fourth and fifth innings with D'Addario picking up the RBI in the fourth and Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.) in the fifth.
This weekend, Sacred Heart resumes Northeast Conference play when the Bryant Bulldogs come to town on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
