Pioneers End West Coast Trip 2-3

The Sacred Heart softball team closed out their California trip at the Gaucho Classic in Santa Barbara, California. The Pioneers finished the tournament going 2-3, picking up wins over Northern Colorado, and San Diego. The Pioneers head to Towson Maryland for the Towson Tournament the 17th-19th as they look to pick up after a west coast weekend.

 

Sacred Heart-4          Northern Colorado-3

  • Katelyn Christian was the hero of the game, after hitting a three run homerun to left field, bringing in Hailey Desrosier, and Lauren Delgadillo
  • As the game went into extra innings a Desrosier single through the left side would bring in Andrea Sidor for the winning run to pick up the 4-3 win in extra innings
  • Delgadillo, and Desrosier both led SHU at the plate picking up two hits a piece
  • Jamie Carlson secured the win for the Pioneers pitching three innings and striking out six batters, allowing no hits
 

Sacred Heart-5          San Diego-4

  • Despite trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, the Pioneers rallied to bring in five runs. The opening run came from Desrosier who singled up the middle to bring in Sidor
  • The big play of the game was from Fallon Bevino who hit a grand slam to put the game out of reach and secure the 5-4 win over San Diego
  • Jamie Carlson would pick up the win pitching all seven innings, striking out nine batters, and only giving up seven hits
  • Bevino led SHU at the plate picking up two hits, and four RBI's
 

Northern Colorado-2                        Sacred Heart-1

  • Sacred Heart lost a close 2-1 game to Northern Colorado, after giving up two homeruns in the effort
  • Emily Orosco would pick up the loss on the mound, pitching six innings, and striking out 10 batters on the day
  • Delgadillo led SHU at the plate, going 2-3, as Addison Landry single in the bottom of the 7th would bring in Stephanie Mangiameli for SHU's only run
 

UC Santa Barbara-3              Sacred Heart-1

  • SHU lost a close 3-1 battle despite a late effort in the top of the 5th after singling up the middle to bring in Wiegand
  • Delgadillo, again led SHU at the plate going 2-4, and picking up the lone RBI
  • Carlson picked up the loss on the mound after giving up six hits
 

George Washington-4           Sacred Heart-0

  • SHU struggled at the plate only getting three hits on the game. Hannah Ford, Katelyn Christian, and Desrosier were the three Pioneers to pick up hits
  • Carlson was given the loss on the mound, despite strikingout nine batters.
