Jen Russell Having a Stellar Summer with the Brakettes

Sacred Heart pitcher Jen Russell (Seymour, CT) has continued to pitch well throughout the summer after earning NEC Tournament MVP honors and leading the Pioneers to the NCAA Regionals in the spring. Russell, who will enter the 2009 season as a junior, has compiled an 11-2 record and boasts a 0.96 ERA with the legendary Brakettes softball program.

 Through her first 13 games with the Brakettes Russell has pitched 74 innings while surrendering a mere 43 hits and 12 walks while striking out 44 batters. On August 1st Russell pitched a two hit shutout against the H.V. Express to earn her 11th win of the summer.

The Brakettes are currently 44-5 and will compete in the Women’s Major Softball National Championship in Stratford, CT August 6-9.
