Swim Team Nabs Four First Place Finishes in Assumption

Four first place finishes could not boost the Women's Swim Team to the win over Assumption this weekend. Sacred Heart fell 90-114 in the meet.

Freshman Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden) nabbed first place finish in the 500 yard Freestyle, clocking in at 5:21.49. She nabbed a second place spot in the 1000 yard Freestryle, finishing in 11:00.02 just eight seconds behind the top spot.

Senior Captain Meg Bailey (Walpole, MA) also had a first and second place finish in the meet. Bailey grabbed the top spot in the 400 yard IM. She made it to the finish just seven seconds before Assuption's Kerry Silva, and only 10 seconds before Co-Captain Allison Thurston (Berlin, CT). In an extremely close 200 yard butterfly, Bailey finished just one second behind the competition to place second in the event.

Stephanie Walters got her first top spot of the season in the 200 yard breast stroke. Walters finished in 2:32.51 to edge out the other swimmers and grab the first place finish. She also picked up a third place finish in the 50 yard Free Style (26.98) and a fourth place in the 100 yard Free Style (58.53).

Hayley McGill got the team's fourth first place spot in the 200 yard Back Stroke finishing above the rest in 2:15.26. Liz Bennett had two second place finishes in the meet; one in the 200 yard Free Style (2:03.13) and one in the 200 yard Back Stroke (2:17.71).

The swim team takes to the pool at Siena on December 10th at 1:00 p.m.
