Pioneers Break Two School Records on Day 1 of NEC Championship

Fairfield, Conn.—Sacred Heart women's swim team breaks two school records on Day One of the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championship. The Pioneers swam the 200 Medley Relay in 1:50.93, and the 800 Free Relay in 7:57.38.

Haley McGill (Old Lyme, Conn.), Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden), Liz Bennett (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Rachel McGrath (Dorchester, Mass.) teamed up in the 200 Medley Relay to break the previous record of 1:51.97 set at last year's NEC Championship. Bennett was a member of last year's record-setting relay.

Reinhold, McGill, Bennett and Meghan Bailey (Walpole, Mass.) swam the 800 Free Relay in 7:57.38 topping the previous record of 8:00.12 set in 2009 at the NEC Championship.

Despite breaking school records, Sacred Heart came in sixth in both events.

The Pioneers continue to swim through Saturday fighting to bring home champions.
