Fairfield, Conn.—Sacred Heart women's swim team picks up three top-10 finishes in Day 3 of the Northeast Conference Swimming Championship. Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, N.J.) had the top finish on the team in the individual races, nabbing a seventh place finish in the 100 yard Breaststroke finals.
Walters earned her way into the 100 yard Breaststroke final by swimming the preliminary in 1:07.15, finishing eighth. The junior clocked in at 1:07.63 to place seventh in the event's final this evening.
Meghan Bailey (Walpole, Mass.) and Laurie Casado (Queens, N.Y.) each notched ninth place finishes in their events. Bailey earned her way into the 400 yard IM final after finishing tenth in the preliminary, clocking in at 4:38.80. She moved up a place after swimming a 4:35.96 in the finals. Casado picked up ninth place finishes in both the preliminary round (1:08.13) and in the finals (1:07.99).
Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Allison Thurston (Berlin, Conn.) finished eleventh and twelfth in the final rounds of their events. Reinhold notched her eleventh place finish by swimming the 100 yard Breaststroke in 1:09.17. While senior Thurston swam the 400 yard IM in 4:44.50 earning herself the twelfth place spot.
The NEC Championship wraps up on Saturday.
