SHU Swimming Falls to Siena

Albany, NY – The Sacred Heart women's swimming team was defeated by Siena College over the weekend, 159-93.

Even in defeat, the Pioneers had a few standout performances to be excited about. Junior Lizzy Bennett (Fairbanks, AK) and freshman Siobhan Goodman (Ridgewood, NJ) put together a couple strong performances, finishing 1-2 in both 100 Yard Butterfly and the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Bennett took home both first place finishes. Sophomore Meredith Nyser (Barrington, RI) finished right behind the pair in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, with the Pioneers finishing 1-2-3. Another notable performance came from the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team. The team of sophomore Alyssa Farnsworth (Leominster, MA), Senior Meg Bellamy (Barrington, RI), junior Hayley McGill (Old Lyme, CT), senior Rachel McGrath (Dorchester, MA) grabbed first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.07.

"We have made a lot of progress already, and our hard work is starting to show in our times. This was a big meet for us to set up a lot of momentum going into a long break from meets. We are all really excited about what is to come in the upcoming months," commented head coach Brent Noble.

The Pioneers are back in action on January 26th at Western Connecticut State University.
