Fairfield, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's swimming team will be traveling to compete in the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday night in Boston, Massachusetts. The Championships are a four day event ending on Saturday night; preliminaries to be set during the day while the final rounds will being held at night. Sacred Heart finished sixth in last year's Northeast Conference Championships.
The Pioneers will look to seniors Meagan Bellamy (Barrington, RI), Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, NJ), and Rachel McGrath (Dorchester, MA) to set the tone for the weekend, as they have all season long for Sacred Heart. All three undoubtedly will be looking to end their college careers with impressive showings this weekend. Sacred Heart will rely on a balanced attack this weekend as they have all season long with many swimmers having been able to contribute to this team's success.
First year Head Coach Brent Noble had this to say in anticipation of the weekend:
"We've come a really long way this year, and we are all really excited about the opportunity to show that off to the conference. This meet has been the focal point of our season from day one. Everything that we've done has been in preparation for these NEC championships, and we really couldn't be more ready. It is going to be a very exciting four days".
We will be updating the Pioneers' NEC Championship journey each day on sacredheartpioneers.com.
