CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (February 20, 2014)--After all eight Pioneers posted season bests in the preliminaries, freshman Olivia Decas (Mattaposiett, Mass.) of the Sacred Heart women's swim team finished tenth in the 50 yard Freestyle final Thursday night at the Northeast Conference Championship.
After finishing twelfth in the preliminary, and qualifying for the B-final, this morning by posting her best time of the year, 24.47 seconds, Decas finished the final in 24.53 seconds.
Taking tenth in the final, Decas added seven points to the Pioneers' total score. Heading into the third day of competition, Sacred Heart sits in seventh place with 85 points, just one point behind sixth place St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Pioneers team featuring Caleigh Dion (Dunstable, Mass.), Jillian Crosby (Port Monmouth, N.J.), Alyssa Farnsworth (Leominster, Mass.) and anchored by Decas broke the program record in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay by just milliseconds. SHU finished the race in 1:39.23 for sixth place.
