The Pioneer women's tennis team took part in the Quinnipiac Invitational over the weekend. Freshman Gabi Kalden (New Brunswick, NJ) and junior Delaney Downing (Englewood, CO) earned wins in their respective singles consolation draws.
In the B Singles Consolation draw, Kalden won her three matches. She posted an 8-4 win over Army's Holly Pappafotis as well as wins over Kristen Leikem of Rhode Island, 8-4, and Elizabeth Verow of Seton Hall, 8-2.
In the C Singles Consolation draw, Downing posted a trio of wins to take the field. Downing beat Brooke Hoover of Rhode Island, 8-1, and posted a pair of wins over Fairfield. Downing beat Alyssa Ruiz, 8-6, and Nikki Jackson, 8-2.
In the A Singles draw, senior Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) won her opening match over Carolina Koladzyn of Fairfield, 6-2, 2-6, 10-7, before falling in the quarterfinals. Freshman Maggie Tooley (Cheshire, CT) won her opening match in the D Singles draw, beating Morgan Crystal of Quinnipiac, 7-5, 6-1.
The Pioneers will compete at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships at Army this weekend.
