FAIRFIELD, Conn – Senior Gabi Kaldan (New Brunswick, NJ) has been named Northeast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Kaldan went an undefeated 4-0 this week with two singles and two doubles wins against Robert Morris and Fairleigh Dickinson. On Friday afternoon, Kaldan and partner, Katie DeRienzo (Douglaston, NY), defeated the team of Marie-Sophie Heine and Larissa Kiyoku to record her 100th career win. In singles action, Kaldan defeated Heine, 7-5, 6-2 in the number two slot, as the Pioneers took down the Colonials 5-2. Against FDU, Kaldan recorded the Pioneers only two wins with an 8-5 win in doubles and then a thrilling 7-5, 2-6, 11-9 win over Sheya Pasricha at number two singles. The senior now has a 103 combined singles and doubles wins in her career.
Kaldan and the rest of the Pioneers will hit the courts next on Thursday afternoon as the Rhode Island Rams come to town.
