Women's Tennis Defeats The Mount at NEC Championships, 4-1

WEST WINDSOR, NJ - Sophomore Kristina Chao (Needham, MA) won her singles match, then teamed up with Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) to win at doubles and help the Sacred Heart women's tennis team get past #5 seed Mount St. Mary's in a quarterfinal match at the Northeast Conference Championships Friday.

Kate Donnelly (Centerville, MA) won at #1 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Chelsea Johnson. Sophomore Delaney Downing (Englewood, CO) gave SHU its third point at singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #6.

The Pioneers put the Mountaineers away thanks to the Chao doubles team, followed by an 8-0 win by Darcy Demers (Norton, MA) and Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ).

SHU will face top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in a semifinal match tomorrow at 9 a.m.
