Pioneers Compete in Bryant Invitational
(Smithtown, RI) – The Sacred Heart Pioneer Outdoor Men's and Women's Track teams participated in the Bryant University Track and Field Invitational Saturday, with several Pioneers turning in solid performances.
Bonnie Kilis placed first in the Women 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:05.90, while placing fourth in the Women 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.61 in the finals. The Pioneers also placed two more in the top ten of the Women 400 Meter Hurdles, with Stephanie Kanner finishing sixth (1:10.64) and Justine Ameye eighth (1:12.45). Sarana Hyatt finished eighth in the Women 100 Meter Hurdles with a finals time of 16.10. Kilis also placed fifth in Women Javelin Throw with a toss of 41.22 meters.
In the Men 400 Meter Hurdles, Justin McLoughlin won the Men 400 Meter Hurdles, clocking in at 54.63. Bertony Jean-Louis (56.92) and Daniel Galanto (57.22) finished fifth and sixth respectively. Nicholas Phillips finished eighth in the Men 110 Meter Hurdles with a finals time of 16.13.
Patrick Peterson finished first in the Men 800 Meter Run with a time1:56.82, while John Ahern placed ninth in the same event in 2:00.74. Stephen Benoit took fifth in the Men 5000 Meter Run in 15:48.93. Matthew Lyhne placed second at 22.62 in the Men 200 Meter Dash.
In the Women 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Brianna Castrogivanni finished third with a finals time of 11:59.69 and Erin McPherson finished fifth with a finals time of 11:59.79. Stephen Phillips took fourth in the Men 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a finals time of 10:40.46.
Seanne Denny placed eighth in the Women 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.95, while Katelyn Racanelli finished ninth with a 1:01.23 finals time in the Women 400 Meter Dash. Brigid Paddock took ninth in the Women 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:23.45.
Brittany Battis took third in the Women Pole Vault with 3.20 meter leap, while Tyler Duhamel placed fifth in the Men Pole Vault with a 3.81 meter finish. Nicholas Phillips took third in the Men Triple Jump at 13.33 meters. Christine Middleton placed fourth Women Discus Throw with a toss of 43.45 meters, Marc Troiani finished sixth in Men Discus Throw at 42.73 meters.
Athalia Smith finished third in Women Hammer Throw with a toss of 54.59 meters, while Middleton recorded a 47.29 meter throw to place seventh. Chauntal Smith (46.20) and Kolbi Smith (44.81) finished ninth and tenth respectively, as four SHU throwers finished in the top ten of the event. Mark Conklin (50.78), Christopher Mahl (49.16), and Phillip MIccio (43.86) placed fourth, seventh, and ninth respectively in the Men Hammer Throw. Zachary Martin finished fourth in the Men Javelin Throw, recording in at 57.21 meters. Carol Cress, Lindsay Aponte, and Kolbi Smith placed third through fifth respectively in Women Shot Put with tosses of 12.91, 12.74, and 12.49 meters.
