BOSTON, MA (March 4, 2013) - The Sacred Heart women's track & field team finished 14th overall at this weekend's ECAC Indoor Championship held at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. The Pioneers were led by senior Alyssa Selmquist (Northford, CT) and juniors Lindsay Aponte (West Islip, NY), Brianna Castrogivanni (Commack, NY) and Katelyn Racanelli (Riverside, CT) who all had top-finished earning All-East honors.
Selmquist finished fourth overall in the 5,000 meters, an event she won last week at the annual New England Championships. She posted a time of 16:34.65, blowing her New England winning time way (16:49.55). Castrogivanni took third in the 3,000 meters, an event she won at this year's Northeast Conference Championship. She crossed the finish line with a time of 9:41.54, just missing beating her season best time in the event of 9:41.36 set at last week's New England meet.
In the 500 meters, Racanelli took home a sixth place finish with a time of 1:13.79, breaking her own school record in the event set last week at New England's. Racanelli eclipses her own personal best and record time of 1:13.90.
In the shot put, Aponte took sixth place with a throw of 47'00.75" (14.34m), to earn All-East honors as well.
