Boston, MA.- The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team competed at the Boston University Multi-Events Meet on Thursday, bringing home three wins.
Akuadasuo Ezenylimba won another meet title in the women's weight throw, setting a new season best mark of 59'9.5 feet (18.22m). Her throw crushes the ECAC standard (16.40m) as well as the New England standard (15.60m). She continues to hold the NEC lead in the event in front of teammate Jenna Rothermel, who also threw an ECAC qualifier last weekend at Yale (16.79m). Rothermel took 2nd in the event this week with a New England qualifying best throw measuring in at 15.65m.
Sophomore Jaqueline Thorne ran a new indoor personal best in the 800 meters, crossing in a time of 2:14.89. The time records as the fastest banked track performance in program history and takes the current NEC lead by almost two seconds. Additionally, Thorne's time was under the New England standard by almost four seconds.
Selina Sampieri matched her season best height in the pole vault, clearing 11'5.75 feet (3.50m) to win her event. The height is well over the New England pole vault standard (3.40m).
Jody DiCicco knocked almost seven seconds off her personal best in the mile, finishing in 5:06.87 to take over the NEC lead in the event. Sitting 2nd is teammate Lindsey Lucas, who ran 5:08.89 last week in the Yale Invitational.
Tara Connelly ran a New England standard in her season debut in the 1000 meters, finishing in 3:02.32.
