Graduate student Kimmee Roleder (Pasadena, CA) became the third straight Pioneer to earn Molten/Northeast Conference player of the week honors as SHU posted a 3-1 record last week and claimed the Spring Hills Suites Invitational championship. Teammate Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA) earned the league's first-ever Molten/NEC defensive player of the week award. The senior libero posted 28 digs in Sacred Heart's 3-1 win over UConn Tuesday night and leads the Northeast Conference with 5.00 digs per set in 2011.
Roleder posted a double-double in all four of the Pioneers matches last week and registered 27 digs against Delaware. The 6-2 outside hitter proved to be a force in SHU's landmark triumph over Maryland of the ACC. Roleder blasted seven kills in the Pioneers' 29-27 opening game victory and had 18 total digs in the win. She was also named to the All-Tournament team and has now been named to the all-tournament team in each of the three events the Pioneers have competed in this fall.
Colberg picks up her second Molten/NEC award of the season after being named the circuit's player of the week to kick-off the year. She was named to the Spring Hills Suites at Arundel Mills Invitational All-Tournament Team, her second straight all-tournament nod after landing a spot on the SHU Invitational team. Colberg has recorded double-digit digs in all ten of the Pioneers matches this season and has eclipsed the 20 mark on three occasions.
The SHU women's volleyball team heads to Michigan State this weekend for its final regular season tournament of the year. The Pioneers will take on the host Spartans as well as Virginia Commonwealth and Ball State.
