FAIRFIELD, CT (November 5, 2011) - Sacred Heart head women's volleyball coach Rob Machan earned his 100th career victory on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 3-0 win over visiting St. Francis (NY). The Pioneers raised their Northeast Conference record to 11-2 heading into a showdown with first place Long Island University (12-1) on Sunday.
The Pioneers (21-7, 11-2 NEC) posted scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15 to dispatch the Terriers (1-30, 0-15 NEC) in three-straight.
Grad student Kimmee Roleder (Pasadena, CA) led the SHU offensive attack registering 10 kills in the win. Roleder completed a double double with 10 digs and also had a pair of blocks. Sophomore Dianis Mercado (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) posted six kills, had four service aces and collected 12 digs in the win.
Junior setter Megan Pulone (Diamond Bar, CA) ran the offense with 36 assists and also came up with 10 digs and a pair of service aces. Senior libero Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA) finished with 12 digs.
The Pioneers will close out the home portion of their schedule on Sunday hosting the Blackbirds. SHU will honor their graduating seniors in Colberg, Ashyln Trimble (Temecula, CA) and Maile Hetherington (Thousand Oaks, CA) before the match at 4:00 pm.
