Class of '12 Shine on Senior Night; SHU Sweeps Bobcats

Fairfield, Conn. (November 10, 2012)—Sacred Heart Women's Volleyball Class of 2012 led the way as the Pioneers swept Quinnipiac on Senior Night. Megan Pulone (Diamond Bar, Calif.) recorded 14 assists and Nicole Morales (Medford, N.Y.) notched 11 digs, both team highs.

The Bobcats took an early lead in the first set, but Sacred Heart fought their way back tying the score at five, and on Alisa Mesa's (Long Beach, Calif.) seven-point service run took a 9-5 lead. A Bobcat hitting error game the Pioneers the set 25-21.

Quinnipiac tied the score twice early, but with it knotted at two, Sacred Heart went on a five-point run thanks to strong serving by Sage. After a SHU attack error gave the Bobcats a point, the Pioneers added another five to give them an 11-4 lead. Down by 10, 23-13, the Bobcats tried to make a run at the end earning three points late in the game, but Ovsenek finished it off sending the ball straight down for a kill and claiming the match for Sacred Heart.

The Pioneers wrap up the season an even 8-8 against Northeast Conference opponents and 10-20 overall.
