MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - In another big step for the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team, the Pioneers defeated Robert Morris University 3-0 Saturday afternoon. It was the first time in school history the Pioneers have defeated the Colonials - a perennial Northeast Conference power.
The win moved the Pioneers to 13-7 overall and 3-1 in the NEC. Robert Morris falls to 4-2 in conference play.
Sophomore Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) led the Pioneer attack with 11 kills. She also had six digs and four service aces.
Sophomore Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA) played her second consecutive match on the outside, moving from libero to fill in for an injured teammate, and finished with nine kills and seven digs.
The Pioneers will conclude their Western Pennsylvania road swing on Sunday with a match at Saint Francis (PA).
