Women's Volleyball Gets Back to Winning Ways
Nov. 7, 2009
SMITHFIELD, RI - Sophomore Brittany Best (Norco, CA) notched her eighth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 12 digs, while junior Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek notched 37 assists to lead the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-19) win at Bryant University on Saturday afternoon.
The win lifts the Pioneers to 20-9 overall and 10-3 in the Northeast Conference. Bryant falls to 10-20 and 5-7.
Bryant took a 20-15 lead in the opening set after a Julie Geonnotti ace before the Pioneers made run. The Pioneers ran off the next five points, four of them off the serve of sophomore Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA) to tie it at 20-20.
The Bulldogs actually had two set points with a 24-22 lead but an Elise Sage (Greenwood Village, CO) kill, followed by a Bryant attack error tied the score again. Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) gave the Pioneers a 25-24 lead with a kill off a Sage serve, and the Pioneers took the set 26-24 when the Bulldogs committed an error on Sage's next serve.
The Pioneers cruised through the next set 25-14 and won the third 25-19 to earn their third win in the last four matches.
