(Fairfield, CT) - Kimberly DeLoreto (Hillsdale, NJ) was named Northeast Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday afternoon.

DiLoreto won the 34th Annual Father S.J. Leeber Invitational at Fairfield University Saturday afternoon with a time of 18:29.06, pacing the way for the 99 runners competing and beating her next closest runner by 35 seconds.  Her performance helped the Sacred Heart Pioneer Women's Cross Country team also capture their first victory of the year, as well as their seventh consecutive win at this race.

DiLoreto won the race for the second time in as many years, and also secured her third career individual win and eighth career top-five finish.  The senior runner has finished in the top-five now in both of her races this year, finishing fourth at the CCSU Invitational back on September 11.  For her efforts this week, she was also named the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Sacred Heart Student Athlete of the Week.

The Sacred Heart Pioneer Cross Country Women's and Men's teams will next race Saturday, October 9th at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
