(Albany, NY) – The Sacred Heart Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the UAlbany Invitational Saturday afternoon, with the men finishing 9th out of 25 and the women finishing 8th out of 22.
Richard Marcello led the way for the Pioneer men's team with a time of 25:44.4, finishing 17th overall out of the 161 qualifiers. Rounding out the top seven finishers for the Pioneers was Andrew Houghtalen ( 26:19.7), Andrew Sullivan (26:52.3), Stephen Benoit (26:55.9), Colin Seidl (27:33.1), and Stephen Phillips (28:42.1).
Kim DeLoreto once again led the way for the women's team, finishing 7th overall out of the 145 qualifiers with a time of 17:56.5. Brittney Lane ran second for Sacred Heart, finishing 24th overall with a time of 18:40.3. Also finishing in the top seven for the Pioneers was Megan Papp (19:29.4), Alyssa Selmquist (19:30.2), Brianna Castrogivanni (19:42.9), Michelle Navarro (19:48.6), and Johanna Acosta (20:00.7).
The University of New Hampshire won the women's race with 29 team points, while the host University of Albany took the men's race with 25 team points. The Pioneer Men's team recorded a team score of 280, while the women's team finished with a score of 191.
