Lane Named NEC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

(Fairfield, CT) – Brittney Lane (Greenwich, NY) was named Northeast Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the first time her career.  This marks the third consecutive week that a Pioneer Women's Cross Country athlete has won the award, with Brittany Heninger (Bristol, CT) winning the previous two.

Lane earned her first career individual win at the Father Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational at Fairfield University on Saturday, September 25.  She helped lead the Pioneers to the program's eighth consecutive win at the event, pacing the field of 93 with a time of 18:41.

With the win, Lane became the first NEC athlete this year to beat her teammate Heninger, while also helping SHU win the event for the 13th time in the past 15 years.
