(Boston, MA) The Sacred Heart Women's Cross Country team placed 11th out of 39 teams, recording the program's second highest team-finish ever in the New England Championships Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.   The Pioneer women placed 9th in 2005, and improved from last year's 18th place finish.   The men placed 26th out of 43 teams, with two athletes going down with injury and unable to finish the race.

Three SHU athletes placed in the top 30, earning "All-New England" honors  for the first time in their careers.

Brittany Heninger was 13th in a new personal best of 18:21.  Her previous best finish in the New England's was the 107th she recorded running for UConn in 2009.

Brittney Lane finished just behind her in 14th place in a new personal best of 18:22.  She improved drastically upon her 71st place finish in last year's New England meet.

Heninger and Lane are the 9th and 10th women to earn All-New England honors in cross country in the program's history.

Jeffrey Lusignan became only the fourth man in program history to earn All-New England honors in cross country.  He placed 17th in the men's race in a new personal best of 25:14.  He also improved greatly on his 71st place finish in last year's race, and moved into second place on the program's all-time list for five miles.

Christopher Connelly placed 38th in a personal best of 25:46, missing All-New England honors by just 13 seconds.  Connelly missed his sophomore year due to injury, but improved dramatically upon his 131st place finish from his freshman year in 2009.
