FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University Athletics has announced the hiring of Charlie Tortorici as the director of compliance. Tortorici will be assisting Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, Meghan Miller, in being responsible for the direction of the department's NCAA Compliance efforts.
"I would like to welcome Charlie to the Pioneer family," said Miller. "He has a wealth of experience under his belt that is going to be a benefit to our student-athletes and coaches. I look forward to working with him in the coming years."
Prior to Sacred Heart, Tortorici worked as the compliance coordinator at Oakland University. While at Oakland, he assisted in the day-to-day compliance matters, monitored financial aid and ensured eligibility for student-athletes with NCAA, Horizon League and Oakland University rules.
Prior to Oakland, Tortorici spent time in compliance at Wisconsin-Parkside where he assisted with athlete eligibility certification for prospective and transfer student athletes. Before Wisconsin-Parkside, he also spent time at the National Sports Institute, and the Florida Panthers. He also has legal experience at four different departments in the state of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
The Stuart, Florida native, who graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2017, earned his bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in business administration from the University of Florida in 2013.
