Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 8, 2010) –
Freshman defender Omer Levy (Yahud, Israel) sent a cross into the
box, in the 59th minute, for graduate student Patrick
Daka (Chingola, Zambia) who headed the ball into the net for the
lone score of the afternoon, giving the Sacred Heart men's
soccer team a 1-0 win at Mount St. Mary's. The win
improved the Pioneers to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast
Conference, while extending their win streak to four games.
Daka has been able to provide the needed spark off the bench for
Sacred Heart over the last week. This was his second goal of
the season and first game winner. His last goal was an
equalizing score that sent SHU to overtime with Long Island, last
Friday. For Levy, it was his first career assist.
Junior goalkeeper Alex Fait (Ottawa, Ont.) earned his second
straight shutout and third of the season by making two saves in the
winning effort. In net for the Mountaineers, senior Chris
Davis stopped a pair of shots.
For the game, Sacred Heart held a slight edge in shots taken,
8-7.
The Pioneers return to action as they face #10 Monmouth in West
Long Branch, N.J., Sunday afternoon, at 1:00 pm.
