Box Score Fairfield CT.- The Sacred Heart men's wrestling team hosted #13 Ball State tonight and went on to fall 0-3. The Pioneers were lead by Emerson Waumans who recorded 13 kills on the night. Waumans ended the night with a kill percentage of .333 (13-21). The Pioneers take a week off as they host four straight home games to start February on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
SET 1- The Cardinals got on the board first firing off two straight kills. Taylor Bloomquist answered with a kill to keep the score 2-1. As each team exchanged points back and forth Ball State held the lead 18-13. Doug Dzema did the best he could to keep the Pioneers in the game adding a block, but the Cardinals offense was too much as they took the first set 25-18.
SET 2- The Pioneers took an early lead to start the second period after a Christopher DeLucie kill, to put the score 7-6. Each team exchanged points back and fourth all the way till 14-13 in favor of Ball State. The Cardinals took advantage of a couple Sacred Heart attack errors to extend their lead 18-13. The deficit was too much for SHU has they went on to fall 25-22 in the second set.
SET 3- The final set of the night Sacred Heart fired off three points to open the match. Michael Comens kept the ball rolling adding a kill to put the score 4-1. The Cardinals went on a three-point run of their own to even the score up at 7-7. The match remained even as each team added points one after another, and the set stood at 15-15. Waumans added a kill near the end of the set, but Ball State was too much as they finished the game with a 25-22 final set.
