Box Score The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team took down the top ranked Princeton 3-1. The Pioneers hit a minor speed bump, dropping the opening set, but regrouped to rattle off three straight sets and dethrone the Tigers. The Pioneers now improve to 4-2 in the EIVA and as they prepare for Harvard next weekend in the Pitt Center, March 3rd.
SET 1-
The Pioneers were off to a slow start as they found themselves trailliing 13-8, but after two blocking errors from the Tigers, the Pioneers closed the gap. The Tigers would then go on a 4-1 run as the gap proved to be too much for Sacred Heart as Princeton took set 1 25-18. Emerson Waumans led the team with six kills, as Doug Dzema picked up a solo block and a block assist.
SET 2-
The Pioneers regrouped quickly as the team would jump to a 7-4 lead after a couple of Tiger errors. A big kill from Taylor Bloomquist would keep SHU in the lead at the 10-7 mark. The Tigers would tie the game up 14-14, but the Pioneers kept their heads in the game, and took the second set 25-22.
SET 3-
After Picking up the second set, the Pioneers had no looks of backing down. The game was tied up 12-12 thanks to a Christopher DeLucie ace. The Tigers took a one point lead, but a Taylor Bloomquist kill would tie the game up 21-21. The Pioneers kept their cool and picked up a 25-22 win.
SET 4-
Each team exchanged points back and forth, till Bloomquist serving led to a big 5-1 run, and SHU took a 16-12 lead. The Pioneers saw light at the end of the tunnel and with the crowd getting into it, the Pioneers picked up the final set, with a dominant 25-18 win.
