FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Rugby team fell to Army West Point this afternoon by a final score of 24-17. Tessa Buckey had two runs over twenty meters while Buckey, Isabelle Cuddy and Allie Rinaldi each scored a try for the Pioneers respectively. The team returns to action on Saturday Sept. 22 when the team faces off with Castleton. Game-time is set for 3:00 p.m. 

Army converted the first try of the game was well as made the conversion to give Army a 7-0 at 6:15. SHU would respond with a try by Tessa Buckey at 19:45 to cut the Army lead to 7-5. Both teams would answer with back to back tries to made the score 12-12 at 32:15. Army would add one more try with a good conversion to make the score 17-12 at the half. 

The Black Knights would find the touchline at 4:36 in the second half to increase their lead to 24-12 courtesy of Natalie Rivera. SHU would have the last word though as Allie Rinaldi would reach the touchline to cut the Army lead to 24-17. Due to darkness, the game was called making the final score 24-17 in favor of the Black Knights.
