Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A trio of goals to close the third quarter by visiting St. Joseph's University was too much for the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team to overcome. The Pioneers dropped a 13-9 Northeast Conference contest to the Hawks on Saturday.

Max Lionetti found the back of the net at the 12:12 mark of the third quarter to cut the SJU lead to 9-7. The Hawks finished the quarter with three-straight goals then added another one-minute into the fourth to build a 13-7 lead the Pioneers could not overcome.
Matt Tuffano scored back-to-back goals in the span of 12 seconds, including a man-up score, to put the Hawks up 7-2 midway through the second stanza.
The Pioneers rallied to score three goals and get within 9-5 at the break thanks to Sal Miccio's score.
Drew Edwards' third goal pulled SHU within 13-9 with 5:03 to play, but the Hawks were able to run out the clock.
SJU won 14-of-25 faceoffs and had the 31-15 advantage in groundballs.
