Sacred Heart Returns to Action Against Monmouth on Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team returns hosts its third game at the Pitt Center this season as it welcomes Monmouth on Sunday. Game begins at 4 p.m. on NEC Front Row with Randy Brochu and Freddie Coleman on the call.

OPENING TIP

  • Sacred Heart hosts Monmouth at the Pitt Center for the first time since 2018.
  • The Pioneers hold a 19-14 record over the Hawks in the all-time series. Last year when these two teams played, Sacred Heart came out with the 63-60 victory thanks to eight points from the free-throw line in overtime.
  • The Pioneers look to get back in the winning column after a 69-48 loss against La Salle on Nov. 10. Ny'Ceara Pryor (15) and Afia Owusu-Mensah (14) posted double-figure scoring performances.
  • Pryor is leading Sacred Heart with 13.5 points, 5.0 assists and 6.0 steals per game in her inaugural college season. She is currently ranked nationally in steals (3rd, 12), steals per game (7th, 6.0), assists (54th, 10) and assists per game (83rd, 2.0).
  • Head coach Jessica Mannetti enters her 10th season as head coach. She holds a 128-134 (.489) overall record and 95-67 (.586) in Northeast Conference play.
  • Sacred Heart was picked to finish sixth in the NEC Preseason Poll.
