FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the first time in program history, the Sacred Heart University women's rugby team sets foot at the 2022 USA Rugby 7's Collegiate Championships starting on Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m. 
 
The Pioneers open the championships against Queens University in Charlotte. The last time the Pioneers faced Queens was in August 31, 2019 when they fell in their season opener by a score of 62-35. The match will be available to watch on Peacock.
 
The second match is against Army West Point at 3:39 p.m. The Pioneers recently defeated Army 14-0 at the Brown 7's Tournament to capture third place in the Grizzly Cup Division. The match will be available to watch to CNBC.
 
The final match of the day will take place at 5:20 p.m. against Life University. This will be the first encounter with the Running Eagles in program history. The match will be available to watch on Peacock. 
 
The Pioneers picked up nine wins during the 7's season which included a second-place finish at the AIC 7's Tournament on March 19. During the tournament, the team leader in tries and conversions Alyssa Cunningham tallied a total of five tries alongside seven successful conversions.
