Sacred Heart Heads to Saint Francis on MLK Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team looks to remain undefeated in Northeast Conference play as it travels to Loretto for a Martin Luther King Day matchup with Saint Francis on Monday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ with Austin Rooney and Tykera Carter on the call.
 
OPENING TIP
  • Sacred Heart meets St. Francis for the 48th time. The Pioneers hold a 26-21 advantage over the Red Flash in the series.
  • Last season, Saint Francis swept both contests 69-66 (OT) and 74-68. Olivia Tucker scored double figures in both games with 18 and 13, respectively.
  • Sacred Heart is currently on a four-game winning streak that includes a 3-0 start in Northeast Conference play.
  • The Pioneers recently picked up a 76-60 league victory over St. Francis Brooklyn. Sacred Heart drained a season-high 13 three-pointers. Sajada Bonner led the way with 20 points and a perfect 6-of-6 from behind the arc.
  • The Pioneers are tied for first in the NEC in combined rebounds with 35.7 per game and are second in offensive rebounds with 11.5 per game.
  • Ny'Ceara Pryor is a six-time NEC Rookie of the Week honoree and a two-time Met Basketball Writer's Association honorable mention. The guard leads Sacred Heart with 17.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 4.3 steals per game in her inaugural college season. Pryor is the leader in the NEC and second nationally in steals and steals per game. In addition to being the leader in the conference in scoring.
  • Carly Stroemel is tied for first in the NEC in blocks per game (1.5) and total blocks (22). The senior is nationally ranked 80th in blocks per game and 94th in total blocks.
