ETNA, N.H. — The Sacred Heart University equestrian team wrapped up its fall slate of shows in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) format, falling on the road to No. 3 Dartmouth College, 6-2, on Sunday morning.
The Pios showed strong in the opening Fences portion as
Macayla Sousa's 76 on Candy earned SHU its lone point before the break. On Chica,
Carina Muratore's season-high 79 was not enough to give the Pios an early lead, while Dartmouth wrapped up the remaining two points with wins on Alvarino and Delinda.
In Flats, the Red & White had strong shows but could only muster one point in the final portion as
Kylie Hwalek's 74 on Felix was enough to secure her third-consecutive win in the event.
Emma Grimes and
Abigail Marsh had strong showings on Stewart and Delinda, respectively, while Muratore's earned a season-high 74 on Tiadora as the Pios could not complete a comeback, falling to Dartmouth, 6-2.
