FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team took down Mount St. Mary's 55-5 on the road in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) play on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 3-0 overall and in conference competition, the best start in program history.

Reese Torticill led SHU with two tries each, while junior
Alyssa Cunningham went 5-for-9 in conversions.
Caldon got the Pioneers on the board first, followed by a Cunningham conversion to give SHU a 7-0 early lead. Sacred Heart would go on to take a 24-0 advantage at the half.
Reece Woods notched her first career try during the opening half.
Toricill opened the scoring in the second half, extending the lead 29-0. Mount was able to get on the board at 41-5.
Olivia Woods answered with her first career try, assisted by her twin sister Reece, as SHU took a 46-5 lead.
The Pioneers went on to take the 55-5 final for the third consecutive win.
